Depression and Sub-Clinical Hearing Loss

Age-related hearing loss has been increasingly recognized as a risk factor for neurocognitive and neuropsychiatric dysfunction. This session will discuss the emerging relationship between subclinical, minimal levels of hearing loss and depression. An overview of hearing loss—its cause, prevalence, and how treatment—will be presented as an introduction. The course will provide a synopsis of research on the relationship between hearing and depression and conclude with recommendations and future research steps
