This course will examine how diabetes mellitus effects stroke risk, hospitalizations, and outcomes. The proposed mechanisms by which diabetes increases risk of stroke will be reviewed. Existing data on blood glucose measurements in acute stroke will be examined, and strategies for stroke prevention and risk factor modification will be summarized.
