TARGET AUDIENCE
Primary care physicians, cardiologists, lipidologists, nutritionists, and as well as nurses, nurse practitioners, registered dieticians, and pharmacists.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
During this Masterclass, expert faculty will review the evidence behind nutritional approaches for cardiometabolic health, but most importantly, will provide participants with useful strategies to implement this evidence to practice in order to better aid their patients in improving nutrition.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
- Describe common elements of healthful eating patterns to promote cardiometabolic health.
- Examine the effect of diet on risk factors for heart attack, stroke, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular death.
- Review the basics of comprehensive dietary approaches, including plant-based diets, and their role in cardiometabolic health.
- Develop strategies to council patients on nutrition, including practical culinary medicine and behavioral interventions, to help prioritize nutrition and lifestyle and improve or decrease cardiometabolic risk.
