Tiny Habits for Pain Management: Evidence-based Behavior Change Models
Pain medicine has devolved over the past decade in a number of ways. Rather than providing sound, coordinated interdisciplinary care, providers have become progressively siloed, generally falling strictly into either the pharmacological, interventional, surgical, or rehabilitative camps. Communication between providers in these subspecialties has been less than ideal, and the patient with pain bears the brunt of this lack of coordination. The focus of this presentation will be on the imperative of coming out of our silos, allowing for interdisciplinarity and cooperation between subspecialties that need to work together to optimize outcomes. Specific strategies for enhancing communication will be highlighted.
