Clinical Advances and New Insights in the Management of Pediatric Atopic Dermatitis - Primer
Atopic dermatitis is a complex immune disease that has several distinct manifestations across age groups. Published evidence has shown that significant gaps exist in the management of AD, including an under-diagnosis of both children and adults and an incomplete evidence-base for the use of traditional AD therapies across pediatric patients. In addition, most patients and clinicians are not satisfied with current treatments for AD. New agents approved and several that are in development have the potential to address some of these gaps, and clinicians will need additional education on the rationale and data behind these agents in order to incorporate them into clinical practice when developing individualized treatment options for AD patients. This educational primer focuses on the diagnosis, common pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for pediatric AD, and resources. Participants will be able to review the data and learn at their own pace. The primer will also include a call for questions, challenging patient cases, and challenging diagnoses to be submitted from the participants.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for an audience of physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the educational activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify AD based on the evaluation of clinical characteristics specific to infants, children, and adolescents
- Examine the efficacy and safety of current non-pharmacological and pharmacological treatments for AD patients across the age spectrum
