Examining Cannabinoids in the Epilepsy Treatment Spectrum

This session will discuss the use of cannabinoids in the treatment of epilepsy. Epilepsy is a heterogeneous illness with a complex neuropsychiatric symptom profile. Aspects of cannabinoids may lend themselves to treat the varied symptoms that may co-occur with seizure disorders. An overview of approaches for treatment with cannabinoids will be discussed.

  • Review the overlaps of neurologic and psychiatric diagnostic and treatment approaches in epilepsy
  • Discuss the role of the endocannabinoid system
  • Identify potential treatment options for using cannabinoid-based products for epilepsy
