Evidence-Based Care of Back Pain
Knowing what defines back pain and what symptoms come from each structure and its pattern can be very helpful in isolating the multiple causes of back pain, and its evaluation and management. This course will review some evidence-based care tenets, and apply those to the exams we routinely trust for information that can be useful to rule in or out certain conditions and why history is your best tool to determine a cause of low back pain. You'll understand the value of different neurologic exams, and physical findings, and their usefulness in the exam process. We'll review alternative causes for back and leg pain, and its differences in the exam and testing process. We'll review the natural history of back pain, red flag conditions and what they really mean, and prognostic factors leading to lack of improvement.
