New Therapies in Development for Osteoarthritis

The lack of treatments to prevent or slow the progression of osteoarthritis is an unmet medical need. Currently, a number of medications with unique mechanisms of action are in clinical trials for both pain reduction and to determine if they can slow the progression of the disease. This course will review a number of the medications that are currently in phase 2 and phase 3 clinical trials for the treatment of painful large joint arthritis. The proposed mechanism of action and the results of the clinical studies will be reviewed.
